Can you help run the Summer Fete?

The Ruskin Park Summer Fete in June 2025 was once again a huge success.

We’re thinking about next year’s event earlier than usual because Julie Simpson has let us know she is stepping down as fete organiser after 14 years. Julie’s contribution has been extraordinary and we are grateful for her dedication, passion and creativity.

The current Friends of Ruskin Park committee has limited capacity to take on everything Julie has been doing. We’re currently considering whether we can hold the fete next summer and what it might look like.

We are looking for additional volunteers who are interested in joining a fete committee to take responsibility for the event. We imagine this would involve taking a lead on one or more areas, e.g.

• Co-ordinating stalls, performers and workshops
• Working with Lambeth Council to secure permission, licensing and ensure the event is safe
• Managing site logistics including equipment and setup
• Taking responsibility for other aspects on the day, e.g. traffic, litter and troubleshooting.

There are also opportunities to be involved in areas that continuing volunteers have been leading, e.g. volunteer co-ordination, communications, fundraising stalls.
