Update on park facilities, events and activities

We’ve lots of updates to share as restrictions lift and we continue the journey back to normality.

Playground and Steel Warriors gym reopen

Lambeth Landscapes has now reopened the playground and the Steel Warriors outdoor gym. Please follow the social distancing and safety advice displayed on notices.

Paddling pool to stay closed

The paddling pool volunteer group has sadly had to make the decision to keep the paddling pool closed this year, even if restrictions lift. The costs and challenges of opening the pool safely are too great. We fully expect to re-open the paddling pool for Summer 2021.

Ruskin Park Café reopens

The café is now opening on sunny days from 11am-5pm on weekdays and 10am-5pm on weekends. There’s no seating. For everyone’s safety, remember to maintain a 2m distance when queuing.

Gardening and litter-picking volunteering

Although we’re not running group volunteering, most are very welcome to support the park by helping with litter-picking and gardening on their own or with their household.

Ferndene Road toilets reopen

Lambeth Landscapes are now opening the toilets from 12-noon until one hour before closing. Be aware that they are only being cleaned and re-stocked once per day, and that it’s important to maintain a 2m distance from others where possible when using the facilities.

New tentative concert and fete dates

We are hopeful that the level of COVID-19 in the community allows for further loosening of restrictions in August. We’ve rescheduled our usual programme of summer concerts and the summer fete. We’ll only hold these events if we’re able to in a safe way.

  • Sun 2 August – Lambeth Wind Orchestra concert
  • Sun 16 August – South London Jazz Orchestra concert
  • Sun 30 August – Sonnet Wind Orchestra concert
  • Sun 13 September – Croydon Brass concert
  • Sun 27 September – rescheduled Summer Fete
  • Sun 18 October – Crystal Palace Band concert

If possible, we hope to organise weekly concerts.

  • If you enjoy Ruskin Park and are able to, please donate £5 a month to help us maintain and improve the park, now and for future generations.
