Meet our new gardener

Meet Charlene Henderson, our new part-time gardener, who leads our Friday therapeutic gardening sessions with groups from the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.

Although Charlene didn’t have access to a garden while growing up, she inherited her mother’s love of plants. After the pandemic, she decided to retrain, completing her City and Guilds Horticulture Levels 1 & 2, followed by an RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development.

She brings a wealth of experience from various community gardening projects. The intersection of plants and people is her true passion as both require nurturing.

Charlene is enjoying exploring all the hidden nooks and crannies of the Willow Garden, with a particular fondness for the willow tree from which the garden gets its name.
