Following the announcement of a national lockdown our group volunteering sessions on Wednesday and Saturday mornings are suspended.

It is possible to undertake certain agreed tasks on your own or with one other person. Read more.

Gardening and Litter-picking

Our regular volunteering sessions are a great way to get outdoors, meet some neighbours and help care for the park.

We organise group gardening sessions on two Saturday from 10am to 12.30pm each month, with help from experienced gardeners from Urban Canopy. We focus on projects  to improve areas of the park, e.g. flower beds or the wildlife garden. Regular tasks include weeding, pruning, and planting.

Volunteers also meet every Wednesday at 10am to do simple tasks that can be undertaken on your own. This has recently expanded from litter-picking to include watering, pruning and weeding. We break at 11am in the community garden for a socially distanced cup of tea and a chat, but you are welcome to continue the activity after this time too.

No experience is needed for any activities, but it’s really important we follow guidance on safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
